Weeks 2 to 4

At this stage, pureed food can be eaten.

For this diet all foods are prepared using a food processor or blender to ensure a smooth texture, i.e., no lumps. It is important to still drink at least 1500ml of low calorie fluids everyday. Food portions should be kept small to help prevent vomiting. The moister the food is, the better it will blend.

You should aim to eat/drink 3 meals a day plus 1 high protein shake (like Optifast or Bodiez Protein water). Do not snack. Wait 30 minutes after meals before drinking. Eat very small amounts of food at each meal time and stop eating when full.

Some ideas for pureed food:

Porridge made with calcium fortified or high protein milk

Soggy Weetbix with milk, pureed

Plain, smooth, unsweetened, Greek or high protein yoghurt

Egg (loosely scrambled or lightly poached)

Pureed reduced sugar baked beans

Pureed chicken/fish/mince/meat with sauce/gravy/cottage cheese/broth

Hummus fortified with a tasteless protein powder.
